Grundy is an odd team. They have looked all over the place. Played good teams close, played bad teams close. Never know what is going to show up for them or how they're going to perform.

Definitely the best talent on the Clintwood team, but not on the same page as Miles.

CJ Phillips is the MVP of the Clintwood team and I would say the entire Region. He dominates both sides of the ball, and is virtually by himself on defense. Double and triple teamed by every team in every game and still dominates. Without him Clintwood would not be in the position they are now.

I have to respectfully disagree with that. Miles has better talent around him. He doesnt get doubled and triple team like CJ does every play.
I have to agree with that. Look, there is no wrong answer but I don't think teams can focus as much on Miles because others can step up around him and have. You can't double-triple team Miles, too many other players around him, otherwise Norton's D wouldn't have been quite so tough to score against.
Going to have to agree to disagree, Greencrest. CJ may have greater challenges, but if we're talking about the best or most valuable defensive player, then it has to come down to talent. Miles is more talented and has better skills.

Actually if we are talking MVP, then talent doesnt factor in as much as value. Without Phillips, our defense is medicore at best. I also dont think Miles is nearly as quick off the ball as CJ, just my opinion.
Take Miles off that defense, and its still one of best in the Region.
To some degree, talent, skill, and value to a team all go hand in hand. How valuable would a player be to a team if he had no talent or skill? No doubt, CJ brings all three elements to the Clintwood team.
When you say without CJ " our defense is mediocre at best," then you're really talking more about the limitations of the Clintwood defense. Norton has been blessed to have more depth in their roster. But having other talented players doesn't take away from what Miles brings to the team and to the game.
I think we're just going to have to agree to disagree.

Best Offensive Player: Really don't have a WOW! clearcut standout

agree 100% with that but having agreed with that I'll go with . Stewart from Burton. As a QB Ethan has been the Best Burton has had in a long time, lead the team to a 10-0 season. He makes great reads and he progresses through them. He doesn't look at the first guy and then force it in.
That is my choice but i didn't ge to see the other playes on other teams for 8 games this year. I got to see them once when they played Burton.
From reading the paper after the games on Saturday the running back for Coeburn had a really good year. PV's Lawson was very good where ever he was playing. Parks from GC probably would have gottne the nod if not for injury.
yea thats right zac clifton is going to be an all-state punter. he is hardcore...

Which is what makes CJ the MOST VALUABLE player.
